The Mercury Man has landed!

After having an argument with mom this morning because of a screw-up in my online registration for my master’s, I was forced to go to DLSU to have my account activated in the cybernook of the library. I’m in luck because the cybernook was exclusive for incoming graduate students because it was a semestral break. But still, same old problem and that was the last straw. I went to the Graduate Admissions Office to air my concern and luckily, they made some actions. After having the same old problem, they said that I should register this coming Saturday. Tough luck for me, it was also the enrollment and how am I supposed to enroll and register at the same time? Fortunately, mom forgotten our argument that morning and said that she’ll give me a blank check and just fill it up.

Since I was too early to leave DLSU, I decided to visit our branch in Taft. They are delighted to see a partner come by and I had a chance to meet their new coffee master. After having my coffee and brownies, I left for work. They are surprised that I was too early and I explained why. Sir Gabby and Sir Bernie wondered why such high-tech school screw-up in an online registration.

By 12 noon, I and Merced, a coffee master from our Marquinton branch, prepared the Mercury Man. So what is a Mercury Man? Well, it’s a mini-tank that can hold up to 8 liters of coffee for free sample with a removable mini-table for the cups. For those who wants to have an idea what does it looks like, I posted some pics of it at my friendster. Here's my email for those who want to see those; gino17_2000@yahoo.com

By 1 pm we headed for the Ateneo Gym just in time for the UAAP games. People start flocking to us to grab a free sample. By 2:30 pm the samples, even the extras we brought with us, was consumed so we headed back to the store to have some rest.

So what’s my experienced donning the Mercury Man? It was a cool but tiring job. But hey, it’s worth all the effort. At least I know what an astronaut feels like carrying a big, bulky suit hehehe.

So…Mercury Man is done. Next task…Chill Patrol!!! See you guys in UP and Ateneo this September 13.

Looking a bright day ahead

Since of the unexpected change in my schedule, I need to talk to Bernie, our assistant store manager, after I got back from Laguna (see my previous post). Unfortunately, he won’t be in that day until evening. In my luck, my shift will end as soon as his shift will start.

I brought pasalubong for the store; 2 boxes of quality buko pie that I bought in Laguna. As expected, it was gone by the evening and they loved it. Bernie even joked that it wasn’t delicious enough while be bite chunks of it hehehe.

Before going home that night, I requested Bernie that I will work on Sunday in order for me to replace the lost time while I was away. He consented and I got a new schedule. Unfortunately the other day, I was late by 10 minutes!!! Reason is that it was a traffic jam in Balara that supposedly not that heavy at Sundays! Well, so much for a request and my 1st major late at work.

This weekend I will request Bernie that I will do an opening shift. Hopefully he will agree and I can redeem myself for what happened. Also this week, I can’t wait to do my duty as the Mercury Man. I’ll be walking around the Ateneo Gym giving free coffee samples. I just hope I won’t look silly on the job hehehe.

Mid-Year Experience

Damn! I sure hope GMA won’t be screwing someone else’s schedule anymore! Because of her holidays, my schedules are fucked-up!

But anyway…I’m still lucky to have a kind and understanding manager at the store. And because of that, I was able to come at my former school org’s annual Mid-Year Teambuilding Seminar. It was in Laguna and the name of the resort was Montreal Garden Resort. The place was awesome but I was not happy with the most of the workers there. They are not approachable and even rude to us. But still the show must go on.

It’s rather an odd feeling that being a senior member is like being a display in the events. Most of my time was devoted on taking pictures of the events, singing at the videoke, playing billiards and card. I guess it’s really an adjustment for me.

On the brighter side, I prepared a special iced tea for my section which is Passion iced tea. I was able to get the flavor and taste of what we are brewing in the store. It was an instant hit and the 3-liter pitcher I prepared was emptied in minutes. All were saying the same thing: Delicious, fragrant and refreshing! (Thanks guys!)

Since I have few tea bags left that day, I gave it to those who want to brew their own. And while on the way home, we had the annual spoof awards and I won one! And that award was the one who slides the most in the pool slides hehehe. (Thank you Top 4).
